Abstract
Transmission of a 4 x 10Gbit/s optically time division multiplexed dat a signal over an urepeatered link comprising 80km of standard non-disp ersion shifted fibre is demonstrated. The 1300pns/nm dispersion of the link is balanced using a length of dispersion compensating fibre loca ted at the OTDM transmitter, and the signal is demultiplexed to 10Gbit /s using a semiconductor optical amplifier.
