Abstract
By using 514nm pump power levels, lower than those used before, but wi th much longer exposure times, the authors observed strange nonlinear transmittance effects in germanosilicate optical fibres. These phenome na included an oscillating transmittance of the pump light and a signi ficant influence of switching of the green pump light on the transmitt ance at 633nm.
