LARGE DEFLECTION IN A SHALLOW SPHERICAL-SHELL ON AN ELASTIC-FOUNDATION UNDER A CONCENTRATED LOAD AT THE CENTER

An attempt has been made to develop a simpler approximate large deflec tion analysis of a shallow spherical shell on a Pasternak-type elastic foundation which is subjected to a concentrated load at its centre, s ince other analytical methods seem to be more complicated. This was ap plied to the design of inverted dome shell foundations which are somet imes used for carrying at their centre the highly concentrated loads o f transmission towers and masts.
