118 cases of erysipela admitted to Charleville-Mezieres hospital in in
ternal medecine department between January 1989 and December 1991 were
analysed retrospectively. General facilitating factors were noted in
44 % of the patients and local in 64,5 %. The first line treatment was
in 84 % of the cases penicillin G (12 MUnites per day) effective in 7
5,8 % of the cases. Another treatment used was ceftriaxone and pristin
amycine in first stage or when patients were allergic to penicillin G.
Local complication appeared in 6 % of the cases and recurrence in 7 %
. When recurrences were multiple, we proposed preventive therapy with
benzyl penicillin in intramuscular (2,4 MUnits twice a month) during t
hree or six month.
