Kj. Kippaxdavis et al., ELECTROCHEMICAL-BEHAVIOR OF NITROBENZENE IN AQUEOUS-ETHANOL STUDIED BY DIFFERENTIAL-PULSE POLAROGRAPHY, Analytica chimica acta, 284(1), 1993, pp. 13-19
Differential pulse polarographic studies of nitrobenzene in aqueous et
hanol reveal complex behaviour involving solvent composition, viscosit
y and pH. Both reduction potential and peak reduction current are depe
ndent on all three parameters. Limits of detection of ca. 2 X 10(-7) M
and a linear working range up to 10(-3) M nitrobenzene in ethanol-wat
er (80:20) at pH 6 were recorded. No adsorptive accumulation of nitrob
enzene onto the hanging mercury drop electrode employed was observed u
nder any condition in the aqueous ethanol mixtures.
