The neutral technetium nitride chloride TcNCl3 was prepared from TcCl4
and IN3 in CCl4. The compound is a black, insoluble solid which disso
lves in CH2Cl2 after addition of (Ph(4)As)Cl under formation of (Ph(4)
As)[TcNCl4]. The [(TcNCl4)-N-VI](-) anion was, also obtained by the rea
ctions of [(TcOCl4)-O-V](-) with NCl3 or the sterically hindered benza
midine Ph-CN(SiMe(3))N(SiMe(3))(2). The latter compound decomposes dur
ing the reaction under formation of benzonitrile, (SiMe(3))(2) and (Si
Me(3))(2)O.
