Abstract
This paper describes the essence of opportunities and problems in frui t and other agro-product processing technologies currently being promo ted by organised industry. It then suggests a viable alternative along lines of ''small is beautiful'', in light of advances in micro-proces ors; and proposes a phased development strategy for SW developers and entrepreneurs.
