Aa. Jakobovits, THE ABNORMALITIES OF THE PRESENTATION IN TWIN PREGNANCY AND PERINATAL-MORTALITY, European journal of obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive biology, 52(3), 1993, pp. 181-185
The author conducted a retrospective review of the obstetric patient m
aterial in his department between January 1, 1975 and December 31, 199
2, concerning the clinical implications associated with various lies a
nd presentations of twins. The material included 329 twins (1.07% of a
ll births). Breech, or transverse lies complicated 186 (56.53%) twin g
estations. The frequency of premature newborns was among 186 malpresen
ted twin pairs 85 (45.7%) and 101 (54.3%) were mature. The percentage
of malpresented twin fetuses increased with maternal age and parity. A
bnormal presentations were more frequent (78.49%) among B than A fetus
es (54.84%). Perinatal mortality was more frequent among B than A fetu
ses and more frequent between malpresented twin pairs than the vertex-
vertex presented twins.
