A structural and phenomenological-energetic investigation on fine grin
ding were carried out. The decisive role of amorphisation in the mecha
nical activation of particulate solids has been proved. Amongst the fa
ctors controlling the amorphisation, the rate of stress and the effici
ency of energy transfer in the mill are the most important.
