Ma. Jervis et al., POSTREPRODUCTIVE LIFE IN THE PARASITOID BRACON-HEBETOR (SAY) (HYM-BRACONIDAE), Journal of applied entomology, 117(1), 1994, pp. 72-77
A series of laboratory experiments is described which show that, under
various regimes of host availability, females of Bracon hebetor live
for a considerable period of time after completing reproduction. Durin
g post-reproductive life (PRL), females continue to paralyze and feed
upon hosts. We discuss the possible biological significance of prolong
ed PRL in B. hebetor.
