Y. Pelovski et al., EFFECTS OF SOME SILICONATES ON MOLDING AND PROPERTIES OF EXTRUDED ASBESTOS-CEMENT PRODUCTS, Journal of thermal analysis, 39(11-12), 1993, pp. 1445-1450
The effects of some siliconates on the moulding and properties of extr
uded asbestos cement products were studied. Tests on the homogenized m
ixtures were made with a Netzch plasticimeter, an adiabatic calorimete
r, a hydraulic press, etc. The results yielded values of extrusion res
istance, tensile strength, hydration indices, compressive strength and
bending strength after 7 and 28 days. It was shown that the presence
of siliconates lowers the extrusion resistance, but increases the indu
ction period and the speed of the hydration process. Asbestos modifica
tion by siliconates therefore appears prospective and effective in the
production of extruded fibrous cement products.
