Tungsten ammonium sodium oxyfluorides (NH4)(y)Na0.4WO3-xF2x (X equal t
o or less than 0.5; Y equal to or less than 0.3) were obtained by the
reaction of ammonium bifluoride and the product of sodium tungstate re
duction with sodium borohydride. The chemical composition of the origi
nal 'tungsten(IV) hydroxide' was determined more exactly, and was foun
d to be in fact a tungsten sodium hydroxide. Several tungsten oxidatio
n states (4, 5 and 6) were established in the compounds obtained, whic
h influence the thermal characteristics of these products.
