Abstract
This paper deals with the biological removal of urea nitrogen and ammo nia nitrogen from the urea fertilizer plant effluent In the present st udy a packed bed reactor immobilized with the culture of Bacillus spha ericus was utilized to study the effect of pH and temperature on COD r emoval, Urea-N and Ammonia-N removal. The optimum temperatures and pH for urea removal was observed at 30-degrees-C and 10-degrees-C respect ively while in case of ammonia maximum removal was observed at pH 11 a nd temperature 30-degrees-C . Maximum COD removal was also observed at temperature 30-degrees-C and pH 11.
