C. Labaune et al., INTERPLAY BETWEEN ION-ACOUSTIC-WAVES AND ELECTRON-PLASMA WAVES ASSOCIATED WITH STIMULATED BRILLOUIN AND RAMAN-SCATTERING, Physics of plasmas, 4(2), 1997, pp. 423-427
Direct evidence is presented of the temporal and spatial interplay bet
ween ion acoustic waves (IAWs) associated with stimulated Brillouin sc
attering (SBS) and electron plasma waves (EPWs) associated with stimul
ated Raman scattering (SRS) in conditions of interest to inertial conf
inement fusion (ICF). The two types of waves grow over a limited regio
n in the front part of the plasma, but at different times. Inhibition
of the EPWs by the IAWs has been observed in the early part of the las
er pulse, and this inhibition can be strengthened by increasing the le
vel of the IAWs. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics.
