SIMULATION OF A TDM-LIKE PROTOCOL FAR GBIT S MANS/

This research note presents the results of a simulation study on the p erformance of a new protocol suitable for use in a Gbit/s MAN. Perform ance is simulated under a range of traffic types, access allocation al gorithms, number of stations, and an overload condition. The results s how that the protocol is very efficient, capable of achieving utilizat ion close to 100% without stations incurring excessive mean message de lays. It is also fair to almost all stations under conditions of under load and overload.
