P. Deimann et U. Kastnerkoller, TEST ANALYSIS OF 2 VOCATIONAL-INTEREST QU ESTIONNAIRES, PSYCHOLOGIE IN ERZIEHUNG UND UNTERRICHT, 41(1), 1994, pp. 49-58
The major objective of the present study was to analyse item-statistic
s, reliability and validity of two vocational interest questionnaires
(Berufs-Interessen-Test BIT and Neigungs-Struktur-Test NST). The sampl
e comprised 308 subjects (101 adolescents, 99 successful employees and
108 long-term unemployed). While the NST shows substantial test-stati
stical deficiencies, both the reliability and the item statistics of t
he BIT are satisfactory. Yet, the results show that the validity of th
e BIT has to be questioned. Significant variables contributing to disc
rimination between successful employees on the one hand and unemployed
on the other are intelligence, sex, job-adequate training and corresp
ondence between job desired and actual; the vocational interests, howe
ver, as assessed by the BIT are less important.
