Metastable states of Ti-Cu-Ni system alloys obtained at different cool
ing rates are studied. On cooling at a rate of = 10(6) K/s from liquid
state we obtained type alpha(n) martensitic phase formerly observed o
nly in alloys of titanium with Va-VIs group elements (V, Nb, Mo, W). O
n cooling at rates in the range 10(3).10(6) K/s the phase structure of
the resulting alloys can virtually be described only by the so-called
structure diagram which represents that or other phase system which a
re not in equilibrium. The phase-structure diagrams characterize a the
rmodynamically non-equilibrium, but structurally metastable state of a
system appearing at high cooling rates of melts.
