Abstract
Isothermal sections of Gd-Li-Si(Ge) ternary phase diagrams at 470 K we re plotted using X-ray phase analysis. The Gd-Li-Si system forms four ternary compounds: Gd3Li10Si7, GdLiSi2, GdLi0.3Si1.7, Gd4Li3Si3. A cry stalline structure was defined for GdLiSi2 compounds (alpha-ThSi2 stru ctural type) and GdLi0.3Si1.7 compounds (ALB(2) structural type). The GdLiGe ternary germanide (ZrNiAl type) was verified to exist and two n ew compounds, GdLiGe2 (CaLiSi2 type) and Gd4LiGe4 (Tm4LiGe4 type), wer e identified in the Gd-Li-Ge system.
