In order to contribute to the basic knowledge, in our country, of salm
on nutrition, emphasizing practical subjects mainly related to diet fo
rmulation and feeding, the literature on the topic was reviewed. The q
ualitative requirements of salmon are similar to those of mammals. In
the quantitative aspects however, there are many differences especific
ally with regards to the environment and physiology. These requirement
s are strongly determined by metabolism variations, with a great influ
ence of water temperature.
