Abstract
Pure crystalline Hf and Fe powders were mixed and milled under an argo n atmosphere. The evolution of the system with milling time was follow ed with Mossbauer effect spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The resul ts indicate that in the first stages an amorphous Fe-rich alloy was gr adually formed together with a solid solution of Hf in Fc beyond the s olubility limit.
