We investigate the controller design problem for linear systems in whi
ch the state and the controls are subject to static linear constraints
. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence, and p
resent a complete parametrization of all stabilizing controllers. This
parametrization allows us to transform the constrained control proble
m into a standard problem which can be solved using usual H-2 or H(inf
inity) optimization methods. The approach is illustrated by a simple n
umerical example showing the various steps of the proposed algorithm.
