Abstract
The principal kinetic characteristics (order of the reaction, rate con stants) and the rate-controlling steps of the process of carbon oxidat ion in steelmaking in electric are furnaces of a capacity of 40 t and 100 t were determined. It was found that there is a certain difference in the kinetics of oxidation at carbon contents above and below 0.1%.
