Vi. Nizhenko et al., COMPOSITION AND THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF THE SURFACE-LAYER OF BINARY MELTS OF MAGNESIUM WITH COPPER, TIN AND LEAD, Russian metallurgy. Metally, (5), 1993, pp. 45-47
The minimum possible surface layer thickness, layer composition, therm
odynamic activities of components and Gibbs energy of solution formati
on in the surface layer are determined in liquid alloys of the Cu-Mg,
Mg-Sn and Mg-Pb systems. A monolayer model of the surface layer is typ
ical of melts in the Mg-Sn and Mg-m, systems, a multilayer model is ty
pical of melts in the Cu-Mg system. Solutions with negative deviations
from the ideal behavior are formed in the surface layer and in the bu
lk of the alloys studied.
