Abstract
Numerous doubly excited neutral states of Ar have been observed by the use of photofluorescent and photoion spectrometry. These states are o bserved to autoionize into Ar+ satellite states and into the Ar2+ cont inuum. Doubly excited Rydberg states with the configuration (3s3p(5))n l,n'l' are observed above the Ar2+ threshold. Possible decay pathways of these states are discussed.
