DEEPFREEZING PRESERVATION TRIALS WITH SEM EN OF ARAB AND HAFLINGER STALLIONS IN THE TURKISH-NATIONAL-STUDS-KARACABEY

Within a german-turkish university partnership deepfreezing preservati on of stallion semen was performed as a part projekt of the cooperatio n contract. In this study a modification of the introduced Makrotub me thod was used for semen freezing. The investigated charakteristics of fresh semen of the Arab stallions were in the normal range cited in th e international literature. However, the semen data obtained from the Haflinger stallions were markedly and partially significantly in lower range than measured for the Arab stallions. This may reflect an incom plete adaptation process of the imported Haflinger horse population. L ocal circumstances did not allow Al trials.
