Abstract
This communication reviews the generally accepted embryological develo pment of rectovestibular fistulae and describes in detail, the diagnos tic procedures and clinical findings of this condition in an alpaca (L . paces). Specific modalities are detailed which facilitate this diagn osis in an animal with atresia ani. Comments are also directed to the incidence, reporting, and documentation of this and related conditions in South American camelids.
