Abstract
Not only suspension bridge or cable-stayed bridge, box-girder bridge a ttracts attention in aerodynamic problem. As a special case of this pr oblem, the aerodynamics of a triple arranged box-girder of the Kansai International Airport Access bridge was studied. A wind tunnel test of the bridge using a sectional model was conducted, and a stabilizer fo r galloping oscillation was attached(1)). The vortex-resonance which w as amplified by the aerodynamic interference, was finely evaluated in a wind tunnel test using an aero-elastic model. This paper describes t he result of a series of wind tunnel tests, the measurement of vibrati on damping and observation of the vibration. The data indicates that t he bridge would be subject to the vortex-resonance if TMD (Tuned Mass Damper) were not be installed.
