Abstract
Soil acidity is becoming a major problem in agriculture, resulting in nutrient deficiencies and aluminium toxicity. As aluminium affects the ability of root systems to take up nutrients from the soil, aluminium toxicity is one of the most important factors limiting the growth of plants. The problems asccociated with soil acidity and aluminium toxic ity therefore pose a grave threat to food production.
