P. Kumar et al., ACUTE INTRAVASCULAR HEMOLYSIS FOLLOWING EXCHANGE-TRANSFUSION WITH G-6-PD DEFICIENT BLOOD, European journal of pediatrics, 153(2), 1994, pp. 98-99
A neonate with hyperbilirubinaemia who developed massive intravascular
haemolysis following exchange transfusion with glucose-6-phosphate de
hydrogenase deficient blood is described. It is recommended that in ar
eas endemic for this enzyme deficiency the donor blood should be scree
ned before being used for exchange transfusion.
