On the basis of previous case-study investigations a four-element mode
l of organisational performance is proposed, whose links are identifie
d with management processes. Data from a 4,000 strong sample, drawn fr
om the international businesses of a major corporation, allowed percep
tual measures of the model's parameters to be tested via LISREL across
12 replications; each replication representing samples from differing
business and geographical areas of company operations. Results confir
m some of the model's predicted relationships, and reveal a high degre
e of consistency across replications. Additionally, path analysis on 6
0 sub-unit aggregated perceptions shed light on the possible significa
nce of relationships among the performance measures, underlining the i
mportance of adaptability and global perceptions of company climate fo
r effectiveness and future growth.
