M. Rapoport et al., REVERSAL OF ACUTE ISCHEMIC RENAL-FAILURE DUE TO AORTIC-STENOSIS BY AXILLOFEMORAL BYPASS GRAFT - A CASE-REPORT, Vascular surgery, 28(1), 1994, pp. 57-61
Acute renal failure was preceded by prolonged bilateral renal ischemia
in a fifty-four-year-old woman presenting with suprarenal abdominal a
ortic stenosis, severe systolic hypertension, and congestive heart fai
lure. An axillofemoral bypass caused retrograde flow in the lower aort
a and reestablished the perfusion of the renal arteries and the ischem
ic kidneys. This resulted in complete and immediate restoration of ren
al function and blood pressure even though the patient was anuric for
four days prior to the procedure.
