A two-dimensional numerical heat transfer model has been designed for
a steady-state wood grinding process. Heat generation is assumed to oc
cur by friction in the grinding zones and by viscoelastic deformations
in the wood. The influence of such variables as the thermal propertie
s of the pulpstone and the heat-transfer coefficient of the water show
ers on the temperatures in the grinding zones, the pulpstone and the w
ood has been studied. Simulated results are compared with experimental
work.
