Abstract
The performance of a curved grid gas proportional scintillation counte r filled with xenon at 1100 mbar and having a 25 mm diameter window is evaluated for X-rays in the 1-11 keV energy range. Energy resolutions of 8.0% were obtained for a 5.9 keV parallel X-ray beam entering the detector through the full size window. The variation of the energy res olution with the X-ray energy is studied and X-ray fluorescence spectr a for samples like industrial coal, painted porcelain and car lubricat ion oil, are presented.
