Abstract
Domain information systems of developed Western countries are predomin antly purposed for storage of bibliographic and experimental informati on accessible through interactive information networks equipped with a daptable user interfaces. The main design principles of the systems ha ve not changed for several decades of their use. However, consulting a nd diagnostic expert systems are a new stage in development of scienti fic information support. Russian science, which is joining the global information network with a significant retard, suggests specific appro aches using a wide range of methods based on a reach scientific, metho dical, and software potential.
