Abstract
Myxomas, the most common primary cardiac tumors, rarely become infecte d. This report describes a patient with a right atrial myxoma and a ve ry unusual and life-threatening complication: infection with resultant bacteremia. The few cases reported in the literature are reviewed. Th e relevance of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) in the diagnosis and assessment of atrial masses is emphasized.
