L. Herman et H. Deridder, COMPARISON OF DIFFERENT METHODS FOR DETECTION OF LISTERIA-MONOCYTOGENES IN DAIRY-PRODUCTS, Milchwissenschaft, 48(12), 1993, pp. 684-686
Three different methods were applied for the detection of Listeria mon
ocytogenes in 58 dairy samples. The results obtained with the classica
l and the DNA colony hybridization method agreed for all the samples.
The PCR detection method in which the enrichment culture was directly
tested rendered false negative results for 3 soft cheese samples due t
o the presence of components in the enrichment culture of this cheese
which inhibits the PCR. On the contrary, the sensitivity of the PCR me
thod for cheese wash water was higher than that of the two other metho
ds.
