PROBLEM-SOLVING THERAPY IN PALLIATIVE CARE

Emotional syndromes of depression and anxiety are common among palliat ive care patients. This pilot study evaluated the feasibility and acce ptability of using a brief psychological treatment (problem-solving th erapy) to treat these syndromes in patients receiving palliative care. Results were encouraging, particularly as regards acceptability to pa tients. Problems encountered during the study are discussed in the con text of planning future research into the efficacy of treatments for e motional disorders in palliative care.
