Abstract
7-Hydroxypleurocorine (1), a novel spermidine alkaloid was isolated fr om the leaves of Pleurostylia opposita and its structure was elucidate d by means of extensive H-1 and C-13 nmr studies involving DQF COSY, H OHAHA, HMBC and HMQC experiments. The relative stereochemistry of the molecule was also probed using NOE difference spectroscopy. 7-Hydroxyp leurocorine represents a new type of spermidine derivative including a pyrrolidinone.
