Abstract
The male of Axonopsis (Paraxonopsis) dantei sp. n. is described from m aterial collected in the interstitial habitat of a small stony stream near Florence (Italy). The subgenus Paraxonopsis Motas and Tanasachi i s reported for the first time from Italy. A comparison was made with t he other European species of the same subgenus (A. vietsi Motas and Ta nasachi, 1947). Some observations on the distribution of the genus Axo nopsis Piersig in Europe are also made.
