Abstract
Fe(III) is separated quantitatively from its binary mixtures with Cr(I II), Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Hg(II) and Mg(II) and from steel samples using a synergic combination of 4-phenyl-2,4-butanedione(HA) w ith triphenylphosphine oxide(Ph(3)PO). However, copper(II) and silver( I) interfere. The extraction and stability constants of the synergic s pecies Fe(NCS)A(2)(Ph(3)PO) are found to be: 1.2 x 10(9) and 7.3 x 10( 4) respectively.
