An algorithm for peak purity analysis based on the Gram-Schmidt orthog
onalization method is described. The data are pretreated by using two
different normalization techniques. The performance of this approach i
s investigated for liquid chromatography with photodiode-array detecti
on (LC-DAD) data. The results are compared with the ones obtained by m
eans of fixed size window evolving factor analysis (FSW EFA). The effe
cts of heteroscedasticity and non linearities are discussed.
