Abstract
Samples of alumina, modified with MgO (4 - 9 wt %) were investigated u sing die method of thermal analysis. The observed decrease of the exot hermic effect of the gamma-Al2O3 to alpha-Al2O3 transformation turned out to be independent of the method of introduction of magnesium compo unds, indicating that solid solutions were formed at lower temperature s (500 - 900-degrees-C). Weight losses within this temperature interva l varied with the method of modification, revealing the differences in the structure of solid solutions.
