U. Huhn et al., RESULTS OBTAINED FROM SEVERAL YEARS OF FO LLOW-UP CHECKS IN A SOW HERD OF LANDRACE IN THE CONTEXT OF MEDICAMENTAL SYNCHRONIZATION OF HEAT, Archiv fur Tierzucht, 37(1), 1994, pp. 45-53
Title of the paper: Results obtained from several years of follow-up c
hecks in a sow herd of Landrace in the context of medicamentally synch
ronization of heat. The main purpose of this study was to investigate
by Landrace gilts, whether the application of heat synchronization by
means of Suisynchron-Praemix over several years had influenced the age
of puberty and percentage of pubertal gilts until 245 days (puberty r
ate(245)). Before the heat synchronization has been introduced, the me
an age of puberty in the analyzed herd was 233 days (1967-1969). The s
ynchronization of heats was used from 1973 until 1990. Within the test
ed groups about 64% of the gilts have reached puberty until 245 days.
The biotechnical control of oestrus affected neither the attainment of
puberty nor the fertility results of inseminated gilts detrimental. T
here were no any indications from reproduction-biologically point of v
iew to renounce the further use.
