The electrochemical oxidation of thiobenzanilide was studied in anhydr
ous acetonitrile as a model for the enzymatic oxidation of the substan
ce. It has been found that a single electron is exchanged in the prese
nce of 5 x 10(-2) M HClO4. The oxidation products were identified as H
2S, benzanilide, and 2-phenylbenzthiazole.
