A. Clerivet et Jj. Macheix, HOST-PARASITE INTERACTION SOLANUM-GILO (R ADDLI) STEMPHYLIUM-FLORIDANUM (HANNON-ET-WEBER) - FOLIAR LEVEL OF CHLOROGENIC ACID-RELATED TO PATHOGEN RESISTANCE, Journal of phytopathology, 139(4), 1993, pp. 322-328
Phenolic profile of Solanum gilo leaves was investigated after incubat
ion with Stemphylium floridanum culture filtrates. The amount of chlor
ogenic acid, largely dominant, was in correlation with foliar resistan
ce either by a high constitutive level in some leaves (apical leaves o
f productive plants) or by a fast increase induced in other leaves by
fungus elicitors (youngest leaves of plants nursery). An additional ro
le of other identified phenolic compounds was also proposed so that a
sufficient resistance level was conferred to S. gilo leaves.
