Abstract
The environments of five BL Lac objects are investigated by imaging th e fields of about 8 arcmin around the sources, and by obtaining spectr a of some galaxies in the neighborhoods. In three, and possibly four, cases out of five there are one to two galaxies sharing the same redsh ift as the BL Lac. The environments are similar to Abell clusters of r ichness class 0. Comparison with the environments of F-R I and II radi o galaxies is briefly discussed.
