Abstract
Synthetic spectra based on the new Kurucz models and calculated using the IBM PC-based program SPECTRUM (which is described and made availab le to the astronomical community) are classified using the techniques of MK spectral classification against digital spectra of MK standards. The results are used to calibrate the MK system for solar-composition dwarf stars from B1 V to K5 V in terms of effective temperature.
