Abstract
The design of a solenoid operated diesel injector for gaseous fuels is modified to incorporate a much smaller actuator. To achieve fast dyna mic response of the new injector, a novel switching circuit is designe d that incorporates a capacitor to control the electric current throug h the solenoid coil. The mathematical model of the injector needle mot ion and solenoid force generation during a transient process is establ ished. A multiobjective optimization technique is applied to the simul ation model to select values for the design parameters that result in an injector with optimum dynamic performance.
