E. Avinoah et Hs. Odes, GASTROSCOPICALLY ASSISTED BALLOON TAMPONADE FOR MASSIVE BLEEDING AFTER SILASTIC RING VERTICAL GASTROPLASTY, Obesity surgery, 4(1), 1994, pp. 51-53
We report a case of massive upper gastrointestinal bleeding after sila
stic ring vertical gastroplasty. The bleeding originated from the stap
le-line at the insertion point of the silastic ring. A Sengstaken-Blak
emore tube tamponaded the area of bleeding, by a new technique whereby
the gastroscope was inserted through the gastrostomy orifice and used
to guide the placement of the occluding balloon.
