A. Ingianni et al., HEN EGG-WHITE LYSOZYME IMPROVES PLAQUE-FORMATION OF HERPES AND INFLUENZA-VIRUSES IN AGAR SOLIDIFIED MEDIA, Medical microbiology letters, 3(1), 1994, pp. 9-15
Hen egg-white lysozyme has been found to enhance plaque formation by b
oth herpes simplex virus type 1 and influenza virus strain SWN grown o
n cell monolayers in agar-solidified media. The effect is dose depende
nt and does not seem to be due to the enzymatic activity of the compou
nd, but rather to the strong negative charge of the molecule.
